How do we carve space for a British challenger food brand looking to make waves in a crowded savoury snack marketplace?

The design team at Founders Makers ditched the Macbooks and took a walk – to a graveyard.

Nunhead cemetery may seem like an odd space to look for inspiration but nestled amongst the ivy and oak trees you’ll come across the grave of Vincent and Elizabeth Figgins. Vincent Figgins (1766 – 29 February 1844) was the first typographer to introduce sans-serif and slab-serif typefaces to the masses, an 18th century startup no less. The packaging features Thorowgood Grotesque by Commercial Type – cast in the 1830’s by Figgins, a true classic.

Mix in with some hand painted textures and you have a product backed by major UK stockists easyJet and Ocado Retail Ltd.

Savourist Crunchits is a nominated finalist for The Grocer New Product and Packaging Awards 2023
